Obituary for Leon M. "Kit" Strausser

Leon M. "Kit" Strausser, 91, of Shoemakersville, passed away Monday, January 21, 2019 in his residence. He was the husband of Doris A. "Dolly" (Trump) Strausser. They were married September 6, 1947 and celebrated 71 years of marriage.
Born in Ontelaunee Twp., he was the son of the late Morris D. and Minerva M. (Koller) Strausser. He graduated from Perry High School in 1945. He was a member of St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville. Kit was a US Navy Veteran during World War II. He worked as a Milk Man for 35 years delivering door to door for St. Lawrence Dairy and later Clover Farms. He was a member of Shoemakersville Senior Citizens, Shoemakersville, Goodwill, and Temple Fire Companies, and the Keystone Social Club. He enjoyed going to casinos, playing bingo, bowling, camping, hunting and fishing. He was a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles, and 76ers.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Dennis L. husband of Sharon L. (Cashman) Strausser, Hamburg, Leon M. Strausser, Jr., husband of Linda A. (Torango), Clinton, UT; a daughter: Cathie J. (Strausser) wife of Clark W. "Buddy" Zimmerman, Hamburg; six grandchildren: Clark W. "Buddy" Zimmerman, Jr. husband of Jennifer (Sunday), Lenhartsville, Chad W. Zimmerman husband of Dr. Debra (Legge), Shoemakersville, Heidi L. (Strausser) Roberts wife of Troy, Shoemakersville, Shannon L. Strausser, husband of TuAnh (Nguyen), Tampa, FL, Jay Ryan Strausser husband of Roxanne J. (Davis), Washington, UT, and Neal A. Strausser, Camp Hill; and eight great-grandchildren: Grace, Owen, Emily, Trevor, Derek, Adelyn, Parker, and Aubrey. He is also survived by a sister: Darlene (Strausser) wife of William Snyder, Mohrsville.
Leon's family would like to extend their gratitude to Care for People in Fleetwood, especially Brenda, Patty, and Barbara, for the exceptional care and compassion that they showed to Leon.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11:00 am from St. Luke's Church, Fifth and Franklin Street Shoemakersville, PA 19555. A visitation with the family will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the church. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Luke's Church at the above address.
