Obituary for Kenneth B. Miller

Kenneth B. Miller, 94, of Mohrsville, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 in his residence. He was the husband of Mary F. (Roth) Miller, who died August 19, 1989, after 40 years of marriage.
Born in Bernville, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Nora K. (Blatt) Miller. Kenny worked for forty-one years for Allentown Portland Cement Company, Evansville. Early in their marriage, Kenny and Mary had a love for birds and started Miller's Aviary where they raised and sold parakeets. This hobby continued for many years and grew to building bird houses and preparing for the annual arrival of the Purple Martins which he continued to this day. The "bird man" as Kenny was called had articles in the local newspaper and bird magazines. Since Kenny's marriage, he has been a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp., where he was a former council person and treasurer of the Sunday School for twenty years. After his wife passed away, he became a member of the board of St. Michael's Cemetery; and was the caretaker for over twenty-five years. He was president of the Sesquicentennial Committee for Mohrsville in 1986. In his long and fulfilling life, Kenny joined many organizations. He celebrated over 50 years and had a life membership of Masonic Lodge #62 F & A.M, Reading. Kenny was also an active member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Neversink Forest #32 , where he served as one of the Rangers; and a member of the Rajah Shrine and Shrine International. He was also a life member of the Strausstown Rod and Gun Club and belonged to the Patriotic Order Sons of America Camp #446, Centerport. Kenny was a member of Central Berks Fire Company, Centerport, as well as many other local fire companies.
Kenny is survived by a son: Ronald L. Miller, husband of Rebecca (King) Miller, Mohrsville; four grandchildren: Rachael R. Miller, partner of Sarah Getchell, Vestal, NY; Ronda Lee (Miller) Seymour, wife of Greg Seymour, Mohrsville; and John and Laura Fessler, Reading; and four great-grandchildren: Jordan A. Miller, Allison J. Miller, Luke G. Seymour and Alexis G. Seymour who knew him as pop-pop. He is also survived by three brothers: Charles B. Miller, Mohrsville, Oscar B. Miller, Penn Twp.; and Clair L. Miller, Centre Twp.; and his loving companion: Mary Danenhower, Mohrsville. Kenny was predeceased by a daughter: Nancy M. Fessler; a brother: Gerald M. Miller; and two sisters: Ardell M. Bausher and Katharine B. Lindenmuth.
Services for Kenny will be held on Monday at 11:30 am from St. Michael's Church, 529 St. Michael's Road, Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church Monday 10:00 am to 11:15 am, with the masonic service at 11:15 am. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Michael's Church, at the above address.
