Obituary for June R. Riegel (Machemer)

June R. Riegel, 90, formerly of Leesport and Centerport, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 in Complete Care at Berkshire, Exter Twp., where she resided since 2020. She previously resided at Country Meadows Retirement Community, Wyomissing from 2014 to 2020. June was the wife of Robert L. Riegel, who died June 4, 2011.

Born in Centerport, she was the daughter of the late James I., Jr. and Edith C. (Dunkleberger) Machemer. June was a 1951 graduate of Muhlenberg High School, where she took commercial courses and participated in chorus groups. She worked for the First National Bank of Leesport, retiring in 1997. June was involved in local organizations like the CYO (Centerport Youth Organization). At home, she loved gardening, baking and feeding the birds in her backyard. For many years, she was active in Emmanuel Fellowship Church, Mohrsville. Spending time with family, babysitting the grandchildren and traveling to the beach were among her favorite activities. In June's later years, she enjoyed frequent reunions with friends from high school, work and church.

June is survived by her children: Risa A. (Riegel), wife of Nick Marmontello, Jr., Douglassville; and Perry D. Riegel, husband of Elaine M. (Lanza) Riegel, Centre Twp.; two grandchildren: Daniel J. Marmontello, husband of Kimberly; and Kelsey L. (Riegel), wife of Austin Hartman; one great-granddaughter: Eliza Marmontello; and one brother: Richard Machemer, Exeter Twp. She was predeceased by a brother: David Machemer.

Services will be held on Friday, September 29 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home on Friday 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Dementia Society of America, P.O.
