Obituary for Joyce C. Strause (Riegel)
Joyce C. Strause, 84, formerly of Mohrsville, died Monday, April 25, 2022 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Stanley S. Strause died June 21, 2017.
Born in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Jay L. and Mildred B. (Bressler) Riegel. She was a member of Salem (Belleman's) Church. Joyce graduated from Pine Grove High School in 1956. She operated J.S. Excavating, Inc., Mohrsville for 8 years, until retirement. She was a member of Central Berks Fire Company and Beneficial Association, past president of Mohrsville Civic Club, member of Christian Women's Club, member of the former Leesport Women's Club, and Albright College Women's Club. She was also a member of Leesport Historical Society. She enjoyed traveling to Florida, playing cards, and shopping.
Joyce is survived by a son: Thomas R. Strause, husband of Donna L. (Fake) Strause, Penn Twp.; four grandchildren: Ahsley (Strause) Smith, companion of T.C. Bryant, Kansas, Tyler Strause, companion of Jess Copenhaver, Florida, Amber (Fake) Simpson, wife of Joe Simpson, Connecticut, and Ashlee Fake, companion of Niki Dobrowolski, New Jersey; and three great-grandchildren: Ava, Micah, and Brooklyn. She is also survived by a brother: Jay L. Riegel, Jr., husband of Sue, Pine Grove; and two sisters: Patricia (Riegel) Brown, wife of Dennis, Pine Grove, and Sandra (Riegel) Dittman, Bernville.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 2, 2022 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the funeral home.
