Obituary for Joan C. Yoder

Joan C. Yoder, 86, of Hamburg, died January 20, 2021 at 4:45 PM at home.
She was the wife of the late Neil S. Yoder to whom she was married for 52 years.
Born in Shoemakersville, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Vera R. Kunkle (Stein).
Prior to starting a family, Joan worked as a secretary at Hamburg Tuberculosis Hospital.
An accomplished pianist and organist, she was employed by Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., for 40 years. She was also a church organist at the First United Church of Christ, Hamburg and St Paul’s United Church of Christ, Fleetwood.
She volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. With Neil, she worked extensively to raise funds for the Hamburg Band Boosters.
Surviving are two sons, Randy J. Yoder, Branson, MO.; and Barry W. Yoder, Bethlehem; and three daughters: Cathy J. (Yoder) wife of Richard D. Mayer, Liverpool, PA; Diane C. (Yoder) wife of Clair A. Manwiller, Richmond Township; and Linda A. Yoder, at home.
There are five grandchildren: Tanya (Yoder) Sowers, Ryan N. Yoder, Jordana (Mayer) Engle, Sebastian Mayer and David Manwiller. There are also seven great-grandchildren: Ryan P. Yoder, Riley Yoder, Reese Yoder, Reagan Yoder, Arielle Engle, Calvin Engle and Paige Manwiller.
A private memorial service will be Saturday, January 30, 2021 in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ with the Rev. John Folk officiating. The service will be live-streamed at 2:00 pm on YouTube: https://youtu.be/YK0iffr8XoE

A public burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Tilden Township, at approximately 3:00 pm Saturday.
It was Joan’s final wish to thank her daughter, Linda, for the loving care she provided.
