Obituary for Jean K. Spease (Herber)

Jean K. Spease, 83, formerly of Hamburg, a resident at Orwigsburg Center, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022 in Orwigsburg Center. She was the wife of the late Kenneth C. Spease.

Born in Windsor Twp., she was the daughter of the late Lester J. and Dorothy P. (Reppert) Herber Sunday Sailer. She was a member of Frieden's Church, Shartlesville; and was a former member of Frieden's UCC, Lenhartsville. She graduated from Hamburg High School in 1957. Jean worked at the former Degler Chevrolet, Hamburg as a title clerk, Hamburg Broom Works as a receptionist, Windsor Knitting Mill as a production order clerk; and finally worked as a Health Benefits Eligibility Clerk for Loomis Company, Wyomissing for 12 years before retiring in 2001. Jean was very involved at her church. She was a former Sunday School teacher, Choir Member, past president and vice-president of Women's Guild; a member of the consistory serving as Deaconess and was the 1st woman president of the consistory. She was an assistant pianist and ceres of Virginville Grange; a member of National and State Grange 7th degree, and was a former member of Rebecca IOOF Lodge of Hamburg. Jean enjoyed sewing, crafts, and loved her pets.

She is survived by a son: Scott R. Kamp, husband of Brenda L. (Moser), Windsor Twp.; a daughter: Sherry D. (Kamp) Endy, wife of Richard A. Endy, Hamburg; a granddaughter: Jessica L. (Kamp) Moore, wife of William, Phoenixville; a step-granddaughter: Rachel L. Frey, wife of David, Auburn; and two step-great grandchildren: Noah Endy and Riley Frey. Jean was predeceased by her previous husband Richard F. Kamp; her longtime companion Robert L. Bailey; and a brother: Dennis L. Herber.

Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street Hamburg (Off-Street Parking in Rear). Burial will follow in Frieden's Cemetery, Lenhartsville. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the funeral home.
