Obituary for James Culver

James H. Culver, of Bernville, PA passed away on Monday, September 11th. He was a patient at the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pottsville where he was being treated for breathing issues.

James was the son of William B. Culver and Erma (Brandstetter) Culver in Tyrone, PA. Born November 6, 1934. He graduated from Tyrone High School in 1952 and immediately entered the Navy where he served over 3 ½ years aboard the USS Coral Sea. While serving in the Navy he received the National Defense ribbon, the Navy Occupation medal, and the Good Conduct medal. After his military experience he went to college at Penn State for Engineering. He worked as a contract engineer doing mechanical drawing for manufacturing applications.
He married Ruth A. Zeiders on July 5th, 1957. They have 2 daughters, Laura who lives in Arizona and Leslie Florentine who lives in Easton, PA with her husband Mark and daughter Courtney, and their two grandsons Travis and Colton.

James enjoyed being with people, talking and sharing stories. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could make you laugh easily. He enjoyed history, music and traveling with his wife. After retiring from engineering, he continued to work odd jobs, most of which involved helping others.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church in Hamburg where he served as an elder for many years.
He was a good friend to many and will be missed by all his family.

Burial will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
