Obituary for Helen E. Snyder (Adams)
Helen E. Snyder, 87, of Shoemakersville, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 in Penn State Health St. Joseph. She was the wife of James C. Snyder, who died July 19, 1998.
Born in Centre Twp., she was the daughter of the late George H. and Helen E. (Fick) Adams. Helen was a graduate of Reading High School. She worked for J.E. Houck Ambulance Services from 1982-1995. Helen then worked part-time in the hair salon at J.C. Penney from 2002-2006. She was a member of St. John's (Gernan'ts) Church, Ontelaunee Twp. She was also a member of the Shoemakersville Senior Citizens and the Leesport American Legion Auxiliary. Helen was an avid bowler and square dancer. She was a proud homemaker and mother to her son Damon. Helen loved the color purple and skunks.
Helen is survived by her daughter: Mary Jean (Snyder), wife of Richard Kauffman, Bern Twp.; one son: Curwood Snyder, widower of Elizabeth, Laureldale; four grandchildren: James Kauffman; Katie Hracho, wife of Matt; Karen Wentzel, wife of Mark; and Ammon Snyder, fiance of Susan; and five great-grandchildren: Cal, Alan, Zach, Max and Maggie. She is also survived by a sister: Barbara Hertzog, Riverview Park, Muhlenberg Twp. Helen was predeceased by her son: Damon B. Casantini, husband of Danielle; companion: Alphonse Urban; three brothers; and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. A visitation with the family will be held in the funeral home Saturday, April 30 from 9:00 to 11:00 am.
