Obituary for Harry P. Shaak

Harry P. Shaak, 88, of Tilden Twp., passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 in Penn State Health St. Joseph. He was the husband of Elda M. (Wessner) Shaak, who died February 5, 2011.
Born in Myerstown, he was the son of the late Harry P. and Irene (Althouse) Shaak. Harry was a graduate of Myerstown High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Harry was a dairy and poultry farmer in Tilden Twp. He previously worked for Hershey Foods, sold Jacques seed corn, and also sold insurance. Harry was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perry Twp. He was an active member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and a life member of Shartlesville Fish and Game Association. Harry was a hard worker and enjoyed hunting and going to casinos, especially Hollywood Casino.
Harry is survived by his children: David A. Shaak, husband of Deborah A. (Dietrich) Shaak, Upper Bern Twp.; Michael A. Shaak, Tilden Twp.; Lori M. Shaak, Tilden Twp.; and Susan M. (Shaak) Snyder, Tilden Twp.; six grandsons: Chris, Travis, Richard, Kenneth, Jared and Trevor; and three great-grandchildren: Layla, Clayton and Madison. He is also survived by a sister: Shirley. Harry was predeceased by six siblings.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). A viewing will be held at the funeral home Thursday 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 28, 2021.
