Obituary for Grover K. Houpt

Grover K. Houpt, 90, of Wayne, PA passed away on October 20, 2022. He died peacefully in the residence of his son Bryan, with his loving family by his side. Born in Abington, PA he was the son of the late Horace and Daisy (Roberts) Houpt and one of six children. Grover was the husband of Joan (Kach) Houpt and father to three children: Bryan, Jannine, and Douglas.

Grover received a bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University in electrical engineering. After college, Grover worked for Fisher and Porter in Warminster, PA. He then went on to earn a Master's of Electrical Engineering from Drexel University. The remainder of his career was spent working for Automatic Timing and Controls in King of Prussia, PA in research and development. Grover’s lifetime interests included playing the trumpet, bicycling, hiking, singing with the Norristown Chorale, and collecting antique clocks. Grover and Joan both enjoyed being actively involved with the Pennsylvania Chautauqua in Mount Gretna, PA.

Grover is survived by his children: Bryan Houpt, and his wife Victoria, Upper Tulpehocken Twp., PA; and Jannine (Houpt) Whartnaby, and her husband John, Fergus Falls, MN; six grandchildren: Theresa (Houpt) Kramer (Adam); Bryan Houpt (Stephanie); David Whartnaby (Mariana); Sarah (Whartnaby) Dorion (Tyler); Jacob Wynne; and Cheyenne Wynne; and five great-grandchildren: Rachel and Samuel Kramer; Ella Whartnaby; and Marnie and Nina Dorion. Grover's wife Joan, son Douglas, and five siblings preceded him in death.
