Obituary for Gerald W. Fry

Gerald W. "Jerry" Fry, 79, of Upper Bern Twp., passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. He was the husband of Mae E. (Merkel) Fry. They were married May 19, 1962 and celebrated 56 years of marriage.
Born in Cedar Grove, TN, he was the son of the late Robert A. and Virgie C. (Rigsby) Fry. He was a charter member of Hamburg Community Seventh Day Adventist Church, Tilden Twp. He graduated from Trezevant High School, Trezevant, TN. He worked as a self-employed independent contractor driving truck for various businesses, Peters Brothers, Lenhartsville, Streamside Trucking, Sinking Spring, and the former Harris Pines Mills, Hamburg to name a few. He and his wife also worked a logging and firewood business using mules for about 10 years; and had greenhouses, growing hydroponic tomatoes, lettuce, and cucumbers. Jerry served as a deacon and elder at church. He enjoyed farming, was a member of the Pony Club, American Quarter Horse Association, PA Team Penning Association, NRA, and raised cattle, horses, and goats. He enjoyed target shooting as well. He was a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Karen L. (Fry) wife of Darryl D. Hartman, Penn Twp., and Becky S. (Fry) wife of Jonathan A. Strong, Upper Bern Twp.; one granddaughter: Sokori M. Strong; and a sister: M. Jean (Fry) Dickson wife of Maurice, Zellwood, FL. He was predeceased by a sister: M. Jane Fry, died February 22, 2015.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 3:00 pm from Hamburg Community Seventh Day Adventist Church, 22 Willow Road, Hamburg. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in the church.
