Obituary for George I. Goldman
George I. Goldman, 81, formerly of Bern Township, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024 in Phoebe Berks Health Care Center. He was the husband of Sandra K. (Marks) Goldman. They were married on October 4, 1964 and celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage.
Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Stanley and Beatrice (Gaukenheimer) Goldman. George graduated from Schuylkill Valley High School. He received an associate's degree from Penn State; and was also awarded an honorary PhD. George worked as an engineer for Carpenter Technology. He was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church. George was a fan of Penn State and the Philadelphia Flyers.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: Georgene A. Goldman, Muhlenberg Twp.; and Mathew W. Goldman, husband of Natalie, Ostrander, Ohio; four grandchildren: Elizabeth, Jessica, Rebecca, and Christopher Zeiner; and one great-grandson: Cooper Ryan Miller. George will be missed by his four grand-dogs: Blu, Loki, Twix and Snickers.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 7 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Leesport Cemetery. A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Wednesday 10:00 to 11:00 am.
