Obituary for Frederick M. "Fred" Kauffman

Frederick M. "Fred" Kauffman, 88, of Port Clinton, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022 in his residence surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Anna I. (Sunday) Kauffman. They were married November 10, 1956 and celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Harrison J. "Harry" and Mada M. (Baver) Kauffman. He was a member of St. John's Church, Port Clinton. Fred served our country in the PA National Guard. He worked as a machinist at ASH, Hamburg and later at Zacharias, Sinking Spring where he worked until retirement. He was a member of Port Clinton Fire Company, the former Port Clinton Historical Society, Vaux Lodge No. 406 F&A.M., where he was a 32 degree master mason, Port Clinton Fish and Game Association, and Ruffed Grouse Society. Fred was a former member of Port Clinton Borough Council. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball and softball, hunting, and fishing. He was a former Boy Scout Leader, and leader of Explorers. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son: Harry A. Kauffman, husband of Diane P. (Prentice), Centerport; a daughter: Pamela A. Kauffman, Port Clinton; two grandchildren: Kasea K. Klinger, husband of April (Stutzman), Chesapeake, VA, and Karly K. (Klinger) Salim, wife of Dr. Ali Salim, Chestnut Hill, MA; five great-grandchildren: Marissa, and Kassidy Klinger, and Leila, Yasmeen, and Sami Salim. He is also survived by his older sister, Betty (Kauffman) Henderson, Shillington, step-grandchildren: Craig Knoblach and wife Leanne, Brian Knoblauch and wife Denise,and step-great grandchildren: Mariah, Gavin, and Garrett Knoblauch. He was predeceased by four brothers: Nevin, Lewis, Harry, and Allen Kauffman; and sister Mary Ann (Kauffman) Cherrybon. Also step grandson: Christopher Knoblauch.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 10:00 am from St. John's Church, 36 Penn Street, Port Clinton, PA 19549. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 am in the church. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the medical staff of Tower Health and Bayada Home Healthcare for the excellent care given to Fred.
