Obituary for Fred A. "Derf" Fasnacht

Fred A. "Derf" Fasnacht, 81, of Windsor Twp., formerly of Strausstown, died Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in his daughter's residence. He was the husband of the late Jeane L. (Wertz) Fasnacht, who passed November 6, 2014.

Born in West Cocalico Twp., Lancaster County he was the son of the late Jacob B. and Amy W. (Gerhart) Fasnacht. He graduated from Cocalico High School in 1959. Fred was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he worked as a brick and block layer at M.E. Gerhart Sons, Inc., Stevens, PA until his retirement. During retirement, he assisted his daughter with her business as a courier. He was a life member of American Legion Post No. 732, Bernville; a life member and supporter of the NRA; and a life member of the Strausstown Rod and Gun Club. He loved Elvis, NASCAR, the beach, and Potter County. He was an avid fan of Penn State Football, and enjoyed hunting years ago. Fred had also been a member of the former Strausstown Borough Council.

He is survived by a daughter: Sarah A. Fasnacht, fiance of Mark I. Watson, Edenburg; two step-grandchildren: Courtney E. (Watson), wife of Alex Studer, Temple and Malachi I. Watson, Temple; a sister: Rosemary E. (Fasnacht) Feister, companion of Tom Steffy, Stevens; and two step-sisters: Nancy L. (Fasnacht) Ansel, wife of Ted, Ephrata, and Patti J. (Fasnacht) Bixler, wife of Robert, Ephrata. He is also survived by his canine companion: Nani. He was predeceased by his step-mother: Jane I. (Deater) Fasnacht.

Memorial Services will be held Monday, May 23, 2022 at 7:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street Hamburg (Off Street Parking in Rear). A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home. For online condolences, please visit www.leibenspergerfuneralhomes.com
