Obituary for Florence A. Schappell (Ketner)
Florence A. Schappell, 91, formerly of Centerport, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021 in Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. She was the wife of late Ralph F. Schappell, died April 5, 2016.
Born in Perry Twp., she was the daughter of the late Luther W. and Ida M. (Wink) Ketner. She was a member of Maidencreek Church, Blandon. She worked for 30 years manufacturing electronics for Western Electric, later AT&T, and finally Lucent Technologies, retiring in 1993. She was a member of Ontelaunee Grange for 50+ years, the AT&T Pioneers, and volunteered at the Kutztown Folk Festival. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, and reading. She also enjoyed country line dancing and square dancing, and playing cards with her friends.
She is survived by four sons: Larry A. Schappell, husband of Doris (Hepner) Schappell, Kutztown; Dennis R. Schappell, Whitehall; Rick F. Schappell, husband of Ann (Gouse) Schappell, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Steven T. Schappell, husband of Audra (Salisbury) Schappell, Blandon; one daughter: Renee Y. (Schappell), wife of Kenneth Weist, Frenswood, Texas; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings: Amos and Irvin Ketner, Edith (Ketner) Wessner, and Lillian (Ketner) Schlegel.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 17, 2021 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp.
