Obituary for Elizabeth Miskell
Elizabeth T. Miskell, age 68, formerly of West Scranton, died Friday, October 23, 2020, at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont, Schuylkill County, PA, where she resided.
Born in Scranton on May 14, 1952, daughter of the late James J. Miskell, Sr., and Marjorie Sammon Miskell, she was educated in Scranton public schools, graduating from West Scranton High School in 1971. She was a member of Holy Cross parish in Scranton, where she sang in the choir. In 1992 she moved to Berks County, PA, to be near her brother John and his family.
Liz was born with cerebral palsy and severely impaired vision. In childhood, she endured many surgeries to correct her sight as much as possible and to help her walk. She took it all in stride, never complaining.
By the late 1990s, she lost any functional ability to see, and in 2003, a surgical procedure made it difficult for her to speak. By 2010 she could no longer walk.
She was predeceased by her sister Mary Ann, widow of Edward “Ned” Farrell, and her nephew Marc Miskell.
She is survived by her siblings, Jacqueline, widow of Joseph Ferraro, Chapman Lake, PA, Patricia Paff and her husband Ted, Stroudsburg, PA, James, Jr. and his wife Marie, Bardstown, KY, William “Bo” Miskell, widower of Jane Tague Miskell, Hamilton, OH, Michael Miskell and his wife Donna, Scranton, and John and his wife Delia, Wyomissing, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 30 at 10 AM at Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 3125 Kutztown, Rd., Reading, PA 19605. Internment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Reading, PA 19605.
