Obituary for Eleanor E. Koppenhaver (Boyer)

Eleanor E. Koppenhaver, 86, formerly of Hamburg, went to her eternal home on January 6, 2021.  She was born on May 26, 1934 to Paul and Marian (Schappell) Boyer in the Reading Hospital.  Eleanor married the love of her life, Ceylon L. Koppenhaver, on November 6, 1954.  Ceylon went to be with the Lord on August 9, 2016.  They had one daughter: Donna L. (Koppenhaver) Hoshauer, wife of Donald E. Hoshauer.  Eleanor loved her family and leaves a precious legacy behind.  She has three grandchildren: Heidi (Hoshauer) Zeigler, wife of Chad Ziegler; Heather (Hoshauer) Kessler, wife of Mark Kessler; and D.J. Hoshauer, husband of Rebecca (Collister) Hoshauer.  Eleanor was blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Taylor, Summer, and Aiden Zeigler; Leah and Cason Kessler; and Kaylee and Autumn Hoshauer; and predeceased by Chase Zeigler.  She is also survived by sisters: Sharon (Boyer) Kershner, wife of Clyde Kershner and Delores (Boyer) Weidenhammer, wife of Richard Weidenhammer; and a brother: Allen "Tom" Boyer, husband of Diane (Mason) Boyer.  She was predeceased by a brother: Kenneth Boyer.     Eleanor was a 1952 graduate of Hamburg High School.  She had many employment opportunities including Wright's Knitwear, Empire Precision, Hamburg Area High School Cafeteria and van driver for school students, childcare, the Laurel Center and selling World Book Encyclopedias.  Her greatest mission in life was to serve God and serve others.  Eleanor could always be found reading her Bible, making soups in her kitchen to give to others, visiting the shut-ins and caring for the sick and needy.  Her purpose in living was giving; giving of her time, money and material goods.  She was an original member and enjoyed being part of The Bridge Church, Hamburg, where she served as Sunday School teacher and Missionette Leader.  She loved music and played mandolin and violin in the church orchestra.  Eleanor and Ceylon visited many churches over the years and blessed them with their beautiful voices and songs of praise.  Eleanor was involved with Prison Ministries and Women's AGLOW Ministries.  She served on a mission trip to Mexico.  Eleanor loved to travel.  She explored most of the United States and Canada, as well as trips to England, Germany, Greece, Mexico and Punta Cana.  In her leisure time, she enjoyed bird watching, her "rose" garden, fishing, ice skating and playing games with family and friends.   A private graveside service for the family will be held on Monday at 10:30 am in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The Bridge Church, 3561 Old 22, Hamburg, PA 19526.  Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements.  For online condolences, please visit, www.leibenspergerfuneralhomes.com.
