Obituary for Dorothy M. Wesner (Shearer)
Dorothy M. Wesner, 93, formerly of Shoemakersville, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. She was the wife of Charles S. Wesner, a resident at Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. They were married April 9, 1949 and celebrated 72 years of marriage.
Born in Shoemakersville, she was the daughter of the late DeCosta M. and Elizabeth (Rothermel) Shearer. She worked in factories, having worked for Merritt Underwear, Shoemakersville. She later went on to work as a line cook for about 5 years at the former Perry Bar, and various other restaurants. Dorothy was a member of Shoemakersville, and Virginville Fire Companies Ladies Auxiliaries, and the Shoemakersville Senior Citizens. She loved her family, her cats, and taking care of her kids and grandkids.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons: Dennis C. Wesner, husband of Robyn, Lebanon, Bruce A. Wesner, husband of Ginny, Perry Twp.; a daughter: Beverly A. (Wesner) Saul, wife of Craig, Perry Twp.; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother: Daniel Shearer, Flagstaff, AZ. She was predeceased by her siblings: Mary (Shearer) Mohn, Frederick Shearer, Ellen (Shearer) Weirich, Emma (Shearer) Seidel, and Irene Kramer.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 am in Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street Hamburg (off-street parking in rear).
