Obituary for Dorothy J. Sandridge (Ulrich)
Dorothy J. Sandridge, 82, of Shoemakersville, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 in the comfort of her home at her request, and then demand. She was the wife of the late Edward E. Sandridge, Sr. A coworker of Ed's at Carpenter Steel, by the name of George Rickenbach, asked him for a ride home and if he wanted to meet the "nice girl" where he was boarding at. They met in 1956, then married on Flag Day in 1958. They shared 30 years of marriage before his passing on January 16, 1989.
Dorothy was born on December 14, 1939 to Robert P. and Queena C. (Bohn) Ulrich. She was brought up in simpler times yet more difficult times with deep caring and love within the family which she passed on to her family and friends. She was always willing to lend an ear, to help if she could. That led her to be just a good old fashioned, hardworking, housewife who was satisfied with what she had, being a good soul. "Just going with the flow." She was a member of Salem (Belleman's) Church.
Surviving are her sons: Edward Jr., Keith A., husband of April L., Scott M., and his fiancè, Deanne L. Berger, and her brother: Samuel P., who was the only sibling not born at home. She was one of ten children. She was predeceased by her siblings: Christine, Harry, Anthony (Rich), Robert, Jr., Gloria, Queena, Daniel, and Mary in that order.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in Birch Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
