Donald P. Yocom, 86, of Hamburg, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. He was the husband of Roselyn J. (Adam) Yocom. They were married on August 8, 1953 and celebrated sixty-five years.
Born in Hamburg, he was the son of the late John S. and M. Ada (Burns) Yocom. Donald was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and Cold War. He worked as a supervisor in the assembly department of ASH Pump Company, Hamburg. Donald was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hamburg, where he was a member of the men's group. He was an active member of the Hamburg Area Historical Society; a member Vaux Lodge #406 F. & A.M., Hamburg; a life member of Hamburg Game Association; charter member and first President of the Hamburg Lions Club; former president of the Hamburg Jaycees and first chairperson of the revised King Frost Parade; and a member of the Rough Grouse Society, and the NRA. Donald was an active member in the Hamburg community. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and guiding at Wing Pointe with his beloved Irish Setters. He had a passion for Hamburg and preserving it’s history.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one daughter: Stephanie Y. (Yocom) Adam, Perry Twp.; two granddaughters: Bethany (Adam), wife of Jacob Sholl; and Lindsay Adam, wife of Christopher Rabold; and three great-grandchildren: Harper, Hudson and Henley. Donald is also survived by a sister: Beryl (Yocom), wife of Elmer Schrack, Shartlesville. He was predeceased by a sister: Janet (Yocom) Reber; and a brother: Glenn Yocom.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 28 at 4:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg, PA 19526. A visitation with the family will be held in the funeral home Wednesday 3:00 to 4:00 pm. Burial will be private in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg.
