Donald R. Kunkel, Sr., 81, of Reading, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2021 in his residence. He was the husband of the late Grace I. (Hein) Kunkel.

Born in Hamburg, he was the son of the late Claude A. and Clara A. (Lesher) Kunkel. He was a United States Army Veteran. Donald worked at Exide Battery, formerly General Battery. Donald loved his cars, enjoyed going to parks to listen to music, and enjoyed the kids in his family. He always enjoyed word searches. 

He is survived by a son: Donald R. Kunkel, Jr., Tilden Twp.; two daughters: Cherlyn C. (Kunkel) Wolf, wife of Corey A., Shoemakersville, and Angela G. (Kunkel) Ney, Hamburg; five grandchildren: Koraline, Cheyenne, Cassie, Kathryn, and Amber; and two great-grandchildren: Abraham, and Peter. He is also survived by a sister: Erma (Kunkel) Benjamin, Alburtis. He was predeceased by a daughter: Christina C. (Kunkel) Mertz, passed away February 6, 2021; a brother: David; and two sisters: Eleanor and Esther.
