Obituary for Daniel G. "Sonny" Berger
Daniel G. Berger, "Sonny", 81, of Windsor Twp., passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 in the Reading Hospital. He was the husband of June L. (Wagner) Berger. They were married on July 10, 1965 and celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage.
Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Stella (Rissmiller) Berger. Sonny was a 1960 graduate of Hamburg High School and was a member of the baseball team. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Sonny was a truck driver for Pepsi, and then Berks Products until his retirement. He then worked at Wal-Mart, Hamburg, until October 2023. Sonny was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hamburg. He was a member of Teamsters Local #429. Sonny was a huge baseball fan, especially the Phillies. He enjoyed bowling. Sonny especially enjoyed going to his grandkids' sporting events.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his two daughters: Michelle L. (Berger), Graham, wife of Charles P. , Jr., Windsor Twp,.; and Heidi A. (Berger) DeLancey, wife of Thomas C., Hamburg; and three grandchildren: Zachary, Courtney, and Tyler. Sonny is also survived by his siblings: Barbara Mayer, widow of Donald, Fleetwood; and Carl Berger, husband of Shirley, Shartlesville. He will be missed by his granddogs: Cali, Maverick, Coco, Archer and Ariel. Sonny was predeceased by a son-in-law: Brian R. Lesher.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport.
