Obituary for Clark W. Zimmerman

Clark W. "Buddy" Zimmerman, 72, of Hamburg, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023 in his son's residence. He was the husband of Cathie J. (Strausser) Zimmerman. They were married January 9, 1971 and celebrated 52 years of marriage.

Born in Windsor Twp., he was the son of the late Clarkson S. and Catherine S. (Sorar) Zimmerman; and his step-mother: Katie (Breidegan) Zimmerman. He was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ, Hamburg; and had attended Hamburg Area High School. Buddy worked for Frontier Communications, formerly known as Commonwealth Communications, for 47 years, retiring December 2017. He was a former member of Shoemakersville Borough Council for 27 years; serving as President for 12 of those years. He had served as a little league coach for Shoemakersville Baseball. He was a member of Chipmonk Hunting Camp, Lycoming County; the Keystone Social Club, where he enjoyed bowling; and the former Shoemakersville Jaycees. He was an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins; and the New York Yankees. Buddy always enjoyed traveling to Rehoboth Beach for a slice of Grotto's Pizza; and traveling to Disney. His favorite thing to do was to watch his grandchildren play sports, and was so very proud of their accomplishments, he also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and his camping trips to Knoebel's, Gettysburg, and the Shore. 

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Clark W. "Buddy" Zimmerman, Jr., husband of Jennifer (Sunday), Lenhartsville, and Chad W. Zimmerman, husband of Dr. Deb (Legge), Shoemakersville; three grandchildren: Owen W. Zimmerman, Emily G. Zimmerman, and Grace C. Roberts; and a sister: Janet C. (Zimmerman) Christman, widow of Stanley P. Christman, Brandenton, FL. He was predeceased by his brothers: Robert, Larry, Barry, and Eric.

Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 11:00 am from First Reformed United Church of Christ, 76 S. 3rd Street, Hamburg. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the church.
