Charles D. Hettinger, Sr.,72, of Fleetwood, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021 in his residence. Doug was the husband of Sharon L. (Rubincan) Hettinger. They were married November 1, 1969 and recently celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Born in Chester County, he was the son of the late Ralph H. and Mary E. (Martin) Hettinger. Doug attended Owen J. Roberts High School. He worked all his life as a dairy farmer, from which he retired. Even after retiring, Doug could not give up animals. He always had some type, maybe big or small. He also had a love for flowers, he was always trying to save the ones that needed a little help. Doug had the same love for people. He would help anyone, any way that he could. Doug loved to laugh, and make people laugh. You could always count on him for a good story. Doug and his wife had a lot of good times in their 53 years together; and they had big plans for retirement, having just moved to a 4 acre farmette, but the Good Lord needed him more. Doug's grandson Charles J. Hettinger was raised most of his life by Doug, he even called him dad. He was always there when he needed help with anything.
