Obituary for Carl A. Waldman

Carl A. Waldman, 87, of Tilden Twp., passed away peacefully in his residence on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 with his family and companion Pat by his side. He is survived by his companion of twenty years, Marguerite C. "Pat" (Riegel) Crow. Carl was predeceased by his wife: Geraldine A. (Kompa) Waldman, who died September 23, 1995.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Geroge A. and Martha A. (Brown) Waldman. Carl was a self-employed electrician, owning and operating Waldman Bros. Electric, Inc., Reading. He was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Tilden Twp.; and a former member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Reading. Carl was a volunteer Scouter for the Boy Scouts of America, Troops #305 Reading; and #538 Fleetwood. He received the St. George Award, which is the highest award a Scouter can receive through the Roman Catholic Church. He was a past member of the Electrical Brotherhood Union; a member of Loyal Order of Moose #523, Hamburg, where he was a trustee, past Governor and past chaplain; and a life member of the Ivy Leaf Association, Reading. Carl enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He also enjoyed vacations from Alaska to Florida and the Caribbean.
Surviving in addition to his companion Pat are his children: Victoria A. (Waldman) Faust, companion of John March, Easton; Michael A. Waldman, husband of Karen, Alsace Twp.; twins: David C. Waldman, husband of Susan, Delmar, Delaware; and Theresa M. (Waldman) Setley, Spring Twp.; and Kathleen A. (Waldman) Kochel, wife of Sanford, Reading; nine grandchildren: Kevin T. Waldman, husband of Vicki; Zachary M. Waldman; Jessica A. Waldman Miller, wife of Andy; Janet M. (Waldman) Talley, wife of Nathan; Matthew D. Waldman; Katlin M. (Setley) Whaley, wife of Jordan; Brittany J. Setley; Melissa A. Setley; and Christopher M. Kochel; and five great-grandchildren: Morgan, Amber, Rayna, Madison and Kennedy. Carl is also survived by a brother: James C. Waldman, husband of Virginia, Muhlenberg Twp. He was predeceased by a daughter: Catherine A. Waldman; a son-in-law: Keith Faust; his twin brother: Richard J. Waldman; brother: Anthony G. Waldman; and sister: Loretta M. (Waldman) Sausen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 am at St. Mary R.C. Church, 94 Walnut Road, Hamburg. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. Viewings will be held in Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport on Tuesday 6:00 to 8:00 pm, with a Loyal Order of Moose service at 7:30 pm and Wednesday 10:00 to 10:30 am.
