Obituary for Betty A. Dower (Smith)
Betty A. Dower, 94, of Centre Twp., passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022 in the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of Dawson E. Dower, who died April 21, 2008.
Born in Shoemakersville, she was the daughter of the late Sanford, Sr. and Elphina (Koller) Smith. Betty was a member of Salem (Belleman's) Church, Centre Twp. She loved her dogs and feeding the birds outside of her house. Betty enjoyed bowling, painting ceramics and watching the Phillies. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her children: Beverly A. (Dower), wife of Richard Acker, Alsace Twp.; Terry D. Dower, husband of Teresa, Fleetwood; and Rhonda E. (Dower), wife of Ronnie Adam, Centre Twp.; seven grandchildren: Jeffrey Hoyt (Marci); Bryan Hoyt (Becky); Stephen Dower (Jenn); Matthew Dower (Marissa); Rochelle Hufgard (Troy); Roxanne McMurtry (Shawn); and Renee Cross (Alfred); two step-grandchildren: Audrey Acker and Stacy Acker; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister: Lura (Smith) Pearson, Shillington. Betty was predeceased by her siblings: Elmer Smith; Sanford Smith, Jr.; and Helen Driesbach.
Services will be held on Saturday at 11:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Laureldale Cemetery. A visitation will be held in the funeral home Saturday 11:00 to 11:30 am.
