Arthur G. Burkert, 86, of Windsor Twp., passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 in his residence. He was the husband of Carol G. (Hunsicker) Burkert. They were married February 8, 1974 and celebrated 47 years of marriage.
Born in Buena Vista, Berks Co., he was the son of the late Elwood E. and Katie W. (Gehret) Burkert. He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1952. Art was a US Army Veteran serving in the 814th engineering company. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp. Art worked as a Right of Way Agent for Met-Ed for over 30 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of Vaux Lodge No. 406 F&A.M., the Scottish Rite; Perry Game Association; and Shoemakersville Fire Company and Beneficial Association. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, and hunting and fishing. He always enjoyed his grandchildren's sports; and was a fan of Penn State Football and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Gary L. Burkert, husband of Zena B. (Yocom), Exeter Twp., and Kevin A. Burkert, husband of Bridgid E. (Shannon), Easttown Twp., Chester Co.; a daughter: Christine D. (Eisenhauer) Wysocki, wife of Tobyn J. Wysocki, Bern Twp.; and eight grandchildren: Elle Burkert, Evan Burkert, Brooke Burkert, Christian Burkert, Brianna Burkert, Blaire Burkert, Theo Wysocki and Grace Wysocki. Art is also survived by two brothers: Nevin G. Burkert, husband of Shirley, Tilden Twp.; and Richard G. Burkert, husband of Janet, Hilton Head, South Carolina. He was predeceased by three siblings: Edna (Burkert) Davis, Elsie Burkert and Melvin Burkert.
Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am from St. Michael's Church, 529 St. Michael's Road, Hamburg. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held in the church Monday 10:00 to 10:45 am. Vaux Masonic Lodge service will be at 10:45 am. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements.
