Obituary for Arlene L. Hasenauer (Kaisinger)

Arlene L. Hasenauer, 97, of Hamburg, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022 at the Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the wife of Paul L. Hasenauer, who died August 19, 2013.

Born in Hamburg, she was the daughter of the late Clayton D. and Emily (Motes) Kaisinger. Arlene was a 1942 graduate of Hamburg High School. She worked as an office manager for Hamburg Knitting Mill until her retirement. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hamburg, where she was church secretary, taught Sunday School for over forty years; member of the choir for fifty-five years, coordinator of the Christmas candlelight service, and member of the Girls Guild. Arlene was a charter and life member and past membership chairperson of the Hamburg Area Historical Society and was very interested in genealogy and family history. She was also a member of the Berks Co. Genealogical Society; Harleysville Historical Society; past treasurer and member of the Business and Professional Women's Club (BPW), Hamburg; and president of Hearthstone Circle

Arlene is survived by a step-son: Gary Hasenauer, husband of Nancy, Hamburg; eight step-grandchildren and their families; and step-great-grandchildren; and many loved nieces and nephews and families. She was predeceased by a step-son: Paul L. Hasenauer, Jr.; a step-daughter: Madeline P. (Hasenauer) Wagner; a step-granddaughter: Jennifer Grace Wagner; and three sisters: Marian Heiser, Margaret Faust and Fern Lussier.


Services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg. A visitation with the family will be held in the funeral home Saturday 9:00 to 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to First United Church of Christ, 76 S. 3rd Street, Hamburg, PA 19526 or Bethany Children's Home, 1863 Bethany Road, Womelsdorf, PA 19567.
