Obituary for Anneliese C. Hueske (Tillmann)

Anneliese C. Hueske, age 90, a longtime resident of Tilden Township, died on Wednesday, January 19, at her apartment in Providence Place Senior Living in Pottsville, where she resided the last ten years of her life.
She was born on December 22, 1931, in Hohenlimburg, Germany.
Her father, Wilhelm died when she was 18. She married Herbert on September 8, 1951. Her mother, Bertha, died in 1955. On Flag Day, 1956, she, Herbert, and their 2-year-old son Frank, emigrated to the United States, with sponsorship from the Lutheran World Refugee Service.
They lived in Reading for a few years, making lifelong friends with their Front Street neighbors. Ralph was born in 1957.
August of 1960, they moved to a small farm in Tilden Township on the Bachmoll Road and lived there for 51 years, until they both moved to Providence Place.
For ten years, she worked at the Hamburg Center as a cook, and later at the Laurel Nursing Home as an aide.
Anneliese was a member of St. Michael's Church, near Hamburg. She was active in the Women of St. Michael's and the Altar Guild. Several times a year, she could be found in the kitchen of the church’s pavilion baking pies for dinners and bake sales, often making a hundred or so in a day.
After they both retired in 1992, they traveled across the US in a small camper, making several six-week-long trips each time. They also made several trips to Germany to visit relatives.
She loved to read, sometimes reading a novel a day when she had time. She especially loved mysteries and detective stories. Other activities she enjoyed were doing crossword puzzles in German and English, taking long walks across the fields around her home, knitting and crocheting for family and friends. Summers always included a vacation in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, with family and friends, and playing cards.
Anneliese is survived by her two children: Frank R. Hueske, husband of Pamela (Hanover, PA), and Ralph W. Hueske, husband of Margaret (Reading). Also, three grandchildren: Mark, husband of Heather, Ashley, and Luke, and two great-grandchildren: Derek and Landon. Along with her husband, Herbert E. Hueske (2013), she was predeceased by her two brothers, Wilhelm and Fritz Tillmann.
Anneliese lived at Providence Place in Pottsville for over 10 years. She loved the nurses, aides, and staff, and they loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you consider a donation to The Providence Place Co-worker Foundation, Pottsville Campus, in memory of Anneliese.
