Obituary for Althea M. Fetherolf (Dietrich)

Althea M. Fetherolf, 87, formerly of Tilden Twp., passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023 in Maidencreek Place, after living with cancer for five years with enthusiasm and positivity. She was the wife of Charles A. Fetherolf, Sr., who died March 21, 2007.
Born at home in Kutztown, she was the daughter of the late Anson and Mabel (Seidel) Dietrich. Althea was a 1953 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. She worked at Burkey Underwear, March Sportswear and last at Mulligan's Fish Stand and Marlene's Candies at the Leesport Market. Althea was a member of the Shoey Seniors. She was also a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp., where she was a member of the Church Women and secretary for fifteen years. She was on the pie baking team for the church dinners and was famous for her lemon strip pie and hickory nut cake. Althea enjoyed traveling and cruises. She and her husband celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii and their 50th in Alaska. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, baking, sewing, quilting and line dancing.
Althea is survived by her children: Denise R. (Fetherolf), wife of Allen R. Kerns, Muhlenberg Twp.; Sharon E. (Fetherolf) Spencer, Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Charles A. Fetherolf, Jr., fiance of Wendy Hartman, Windsor Twp.; and Brent W. Fetherolf, husband of Robin, Troy, Michigan; five granddaughters: Katelyn Hummel, Sarah, wife of Albert Liwanag, III, Erin, wife of William Brownlee, Olivia Fetherolf and Ella Fetherolf; and three great-grandchildren: Emma Hummel, Albert Liwanag, IV, and Patrick Liwanag. She is also survived by one brother: Mark Dietrich, Kutztown; and four sisters: Marlene Heffner, widow of Fred, Fleetwood; Eleanor Follweiler, widow of Robert, Lenhartsville; Alta Brobst, widow of Dale, Lyons; and Linda Dupler, wife of Gene, Kempton; and two sisters-in-law: Pauline Henninger, Topton; and Anna Kerschner, Allentown. Althea was predeceased by two sisters: Joyce Leiby and Faye Fritz.
Services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am from St. Michael's Church, 529 St. Michael's Road, Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. A viewing will be held in the church Saturday 9:30 to 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Michael’s Church Memorial Fund, at the above address.
