M. Domer Leibensperger
In Loving Memory
M. Domer Leibensperger, 75, of Hamburg, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015 in his residence. He was the husband of Dianne K. (Herber) Leibensperger. They were married on April 19, 1969 and celebrated forty-six wonderful years of marriage.
Born in West Reading on May 31, 1940, he was the son of the late Stephen T. and Viola M. (Bisker) Leibensperger. He was a 1958 graduate of Hamburg High School and a 1961 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Embalming. Domer was a licensed funeral director in Hamburg since 1961, working with his father. In 1974, he purchased the former Naftzinger Funeral Home in Centerport. Domer fulfilled his dream of building and opening a new funeral home facility in Leesport in December 2012, thus closing the Centerport location. He was proud to serve the surrounding communities in their time of need and never felt like he worked a day in his life.
As a young man, he learned what it meant to be a hard worker. He delivered newspapers, sold bread, collected trash, and portrayed Santa Claus to many families in the area.
Domer was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg, where he was a former church councilperson. He was a member of Vaux Lodge #406 F & AM, Hamburg; Loyal Order of Moose #523, Hamburg; Union Fire Co. #1, Hamburg; Leesport Lodge #191 I.O.O.F.; Ontelaunee Grange; Central Berks Fire Company, Centerport; a fifty-year member of Keystone Social Club; a former member of the Human Rights Committee at the Hamburg Center; past president of the Greater Hamburg Business Association; a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Hamburg, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow; and former president of the Blue Mountain Little League Association. He was a former member of the Hamburg Jaycees and was a Pennsylvania Jaycee Statesman #110. Domer portrayed King Frost in the annual King Frost Parade for 32 years. He was the Booster Badge chairman for the parade in 1964.
Domer was a member of the Hamburg Community Concert Choir; a member of the board of directors for Hamburg Savings and Trust Company; an associate member of the board of directors of the Hamburg branch of Pennsylvania National Bank; and a member of the First National Bank of Leesport, then VIST Bank. He was a member and past president of the Berks County Funeral Directors Association.
The Hamburg swimming pool was always special to Domer. He was a lifeguard there from 1958-1969 and taught many borough children how to swim. He was instrumental in enlarging the pool in 1975, being co-chairperson of the SOS Committee (Save Our Swim). His involvement with the pool continued over the years and in 1995, he received recognition for twenty years of service to the Borough of Hamburg while serving on the Hamburg Recreation Board and his many years of service as pool and lifeguard manager. Domer was co-chairperson of the Hamburg Community Playground Committee; and co-chairperson of Hamburg's Sesquicentennial Committee. In 1993, he received the Citizen of the Year Award from the Virginville Grange; and in 2001, he was presented with the Leadership By Example Award by the Berks County Senior Citizens Council.
Domer was an avid boater, water and snow skiier. He loved cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies and traveling to Spring Training in Clearwater, Florida every year since 1980.
Since 1976, Domer ran Phillies bus trips for the community, which began as the Rotary Club's Hamburg Night at the Vet. He became a radio celebrity on WEEU with his catch phrases, GO HAWKS GO! and GO PHILLIES GO! Domer had a zest and an appreciation for life. He especially loved family traditions. The time he spent with his family was most important to him.
Surviving in addtion to his wife are three daughters: Donna M. (Leibensperger), wife of Christopher L. Parr, Hamburg; Della M. (Leibensperger), wife of Todd J. Kennedy, Hamburg; and Debra M. (Leibensperger), wife of Todd M. Klokis, Riverton, NJ; one son: Derek M.D. Leibensperger, husband of Andrea M. (Stetzler) Leibensperger, Leesport; and five grandchildren: Ethan and Anabel Kennedy; Ava and Lily Parr; and Henry Klokis. Domer is also survived by a brother: S. Regnal Leibensperger, and his wife Julia, Orwigsburg; and mother-in-law: Anna M. (Hummel), widow of Lloyd W. Herber, Hamburg.

Domer's family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Kim, Dr. Andrews, their staff and nurses at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital; and the nurses and staff of Bayada Home Health Care and Hospice for the special care given to him.
